TOUTES NOS ENVIES

bandeAnnonce TOUTES NOS ENVIES

Director Philippe Lioret's latest is one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year following the incredible success of WELCOME (CINEMANIA, 2009) and THE LIGHT (CINEMANIA, 2005). Lioret adapted Emmanuel Carrère's magnificent novel D'autres vie que la mienne, together with his co-scriptwriter, Emmanuel Courcol.

Claire (Marie Gillain), a young judge fresh on the bench in Lyon, builds a friendship with Stéphane (Vincent Lindon), a seasoned, somewhat jaded, but equally-sensitive fellow magistrate. She effectively recruits Stéphane to help local women, and particularly her acquaintance Céline, achieve better settlements with their creditors before the courts. Claire discovers that she suffers from an incurable and fatal brain tumour, but she is still 100% committed to her cause serving social justice. Stéphane eventually cannot help seeing that Claire has noticeably weakened - she has hidden her condition and treatments from her husband and family yet continues to work hard on her dossiers.

Lioret pays minute attention to every detail in his powerful film, building drama through emotional swings. He creates a connection between Claire and Stéphane that goes beyond friendship or sentiment. They have joined together tirelessly in a common cause...
