Paul (Benoît Magimel) still suffers terrible anxiety nearly a year after his beloved wife Sarah (Audrey Tautou, of AMÉLIE) disappears suddenly without trace and without premonition. Paul now lives alone with his two young children. He's exhausted himself in a fruitless search for answers. There's been no closure, only self-doubt and even guilt. Why not re-start his life from zero and move back with his kids to his home town of Saint-Malo, a charming historic port-city on the Channel? But this new beginning leads to unexpected events and even threats. And, there are no answers to be found in roaming the wind-swept coastal landscapes in contemplation of the past. All Paul and his children want is to live happier lives and an end to their self-questioning - "why did she do this to us?"
Director/actor Jalil Lespert has sensitively adapted Olivier Adam's best-selling book Des Vents Contraires into an intense and vibrant film. A bonus is the appearance of the stunning Marie-Ange Casta (sister of Laetitia), in a touching performance as Justine.
