CEDRIC KLAPISCH will be present Saturday November 5th (7:15PM) and Sunday November 6th (3:30PM).
Blue-collar worker France (Karine Viard), divorced with 3 daughters, lives in Dunkirk in the north of France. Her factory job disappears in a close-down and she leaves for Paris to find work, training to become a full-fledged housekeeper. She's hired by the charming and seductive Steve (Gilles Lellouche), a hedge fund manager who lives in a non-parallel universe radically different from her own - he and others of his milieu live lives of luxury. But France soon discovers that Steve played an important role in the closing of the Dunkirk factory... and the sparks begin to fly!
Director and screenwriter, the great Cédric Klapisch, does not serve-up an ordinary polemic on the social gulf and class struggles. But does MY PIECE OF THE PIE really deal with social justice, or is it 'social mobility'? With humour and sensitivity Klapisch pays homage to the elegance of classic Hollywood romantic comedies, building great chemistry between the starring duo of Viard and Lellouche. Comparisons are made to PRETTY WOMAN, but this time it's really the guy who is the prostitute!
CINEMANIA cinephiles discovered Klapisch's talent early on with GOOD OLD DAZE in 1996.
