STÉPHANE CAZES will be present
Mélanie Thierry incarnates prison inmate Ombline in a bravura tour de force performance of staggering intensity (CINEMANIA audiences recognized her talent in LE DERNIER POUR LA ROUTE in 2009, L'AUTRE DUMAS in 2010, and IMPARDONNABLES in 2011.)
Ombline, 20 years old, is found guilty of aggravated assault and sentenced to 3 years incarceration. Unexpectedly, she discovers she's pregnant and gives birth in prison to a son, Lucas. French law allows prison births and the care and raising of infants for 18 months. The norm after that is adoption or a foster home if the mother still has a balance of sentence to serve and there are no relatives to care for the child. Ombline will thus lose the son she loves and lives for if she cannot convince a judge that she has the capability of raising him properly when she is released.
In the sombre atmosphere of prison, we bear witness to the desperate struggle of a young woman whose life has been transformed through motherhood.
OMBLINE also features Corinne Masiero (playing Sophie), the brilliant actress who is a revelation in two other films this year at CINEMANIA - LOUISE WIMMER and DE ROUILLE ET D'OS. First-time feature director Stéphane Cazes creates a remarkably compelling and challenging work, engrossing and unforgettable.
