Bestselling author Francis (André Dussollier) arrives in Venice seeking peace and quiet to begin work on his latest novel. He has in mind renting a small apartment and meets up with Judith (the always stunning Carole Bouquet), a somewhat standoffish real estate agent. For Francis, it's love at first sight! Judith has other instincts for a suitable rental - a small remote house on the island of Sant' Erasmo. Francis's bold reaction is to declare "if we move in together, I'll sign a lease immediately!"...an auspicious beginning for a life together as a couple.

Francis is totally euphoric but his happiness seems to invite writer's block. Hanging around his remote island while Judith is at work provokes jealousy. What does Judith really do all day? To help put his suspicions to rest, Francis hires Jérémie (Alexis Loret) to follow her. Meanwhile, Francis's wildly attractive daughter Alice (Mélanie Thierry) comes to visit, further complicating his hitherto bucolic sojourn. And so unfold the sentimental trials and artistic tribulations of Francis...

André Téchiné is one of a handful of highly-respected top echelon film directors currently at work in France (STRAYED, at CINEMANIA 2004). UNFORGIVEABLE was liberally adapted by Téchiné from the novel by Philippe Djian, which led him to make this typically Italian summertime opus in the French language with French actors.
