"Will CINEMANIA exist in 2020?
What does “hybrid” mean?
» Option 1 – Online, from November 4 to 22, 2020, at festivalcinemania.com (accessible across Canada). CINEMANIA films will be presented on a new platform that we’ve created specifically for the event. It’s intuitive and easy to use.
» Option 2 – In the normal CINEMANIA theatres (Imperial Cinema, Cinéma du Parc, du Musée, Outremont Theatre and Cinémathèque Québécoise), from November 4 to 15, 2020 (respecting the health measures in place). *Currently, the Government of Québec is prohibiting gatherings in Montreal theatres until October 28. However we are preparing everything to be ready for the eventual reopening of theatres. We are following the situation closely and will adapt CINEMANIA’s approach to whatever restrictions are issued.*
Will the festival be held in theatres?
It all depends on the next announcements by public health authorities.
If theatres reopen in time for the festival, we will be ready.
How and when can I get the printed programme for this year?
Will a film schedule be available?
I want to make a donation to support CINEMANIA. How do I do it?

Will programming be identical in theatres and online?
To offer viewers more choices, certain titles will be presented both in theatres and online.
*If public health authorities’ guidelines permit*
If it is possible, some CINEMANIA films will be presented exclusively in theatres at our partner venues. These films will be clearly identified on our programming pages.
Where can I find out about programming?
Will there be any master classes or conferences this year?
How do I vote for the Mel Hoppenheim Audience Award this year?
Will there be guests introducing the films at theatre screenings?
Yes, most of the Quebec films presented in the CINEMANIA in Cinemas programme will be introduced by local guests, such as actors and directors. Guests in attendance will be eventually indicated on the programming pages.
Obviously, we will be unable to host international guests this year.
Will CINEMANIA films be shown with subtitles?
What does “Pre-Opening film” mean?
For the 26th edition of CINEMANIA, we have selected NIGHT OF KINGS, the new film from Philippe Lacôte which made its world premiere at Venice, then at TIFF a few weeks ago, and represents the Ivory Coast in the running for Best International Film at the 2021 Oscars.
