At the beginning of the 20th century, in Northern Italy, Ughettera is the hometown of the Ughetto family. Life in this region having become very difficult, the Ughetto dream is to start over abroad. According to the legend, Luigi Ughetto crossed the Alps and began a new life in France, changing forever the destiny of his beloved family. At the height of his art, Alain Ughetto intertwines the small and the great history through a very personal story, that of his grandmother, played by the voice of Ariane Ascaride. Winner of the Jury Award at the Annecy Animation Festival, Interdit aux chiens et aux Italiens (Forbidden to Dogs and Italians) blurs the line between documentary and fiction in an inventive way.
