Henri is a middle-aged writer in crisis: married and father of four children, he achieved, many years ago, an editorial success that he has never been able to repeat. Just at a time when he assesses his life, an enormous gray dog, ill-bred and compulsive, sneaks into Henri's house. Despite the attempts of the whole family to throw him out, and that his wife's unconditional love begins to falter, this dog, whom they decide to call "Stupid," is going to become Henri's best friend.
CINEMANIA's opinion:
Actor-director Yvan Attal, so well supported by actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, portrays with flair the depression of an unproductive novelist. A cynical and jarring comedy that gathers burlesque situations to challenge dominant thought and false sentiments. Adapted from the politically incorrect best-seller My Stupid Dog by American writer John Fante.
