Guilhem Caillard Takes The Reins
Montreal, March 14th, 2014 - CINEMANIA Film Festival is pleased to announce the appointment of Guilhem Caillard as new Managing Director after four years as Festival Associate Programmer.
Maidy Teitelbaum, President and Founder of CINEMANIA, stated: "From the moment Guilhem became a member of our programming team 4 years ago, he truly embodied all of our goals in achieving excellence. He undertook the challenges of programming with rare passion and with a unique background and deep knowledge of contemporary cinema - the Quebec film industry respects his impeccable taste in selecting films. Guilhem's new position of leadership at CINEMANIA is timely as the Festival approaches its 20th Anniversary in the Fall of 2014."
Before coming to Quebec, Guilhem Caillard worked for several European festivals, among them the Avignon Festival (performing arts) and the Mediterranean Film Festival of Montpellier (CINEMED). He studied at the Université Paul Valery (Montpellier), the Université d'Avignon and most recently in Film Studies at the Concordia University (Quebec). In Montreal, he collaborated with the programming team of the Cinémathèque Québécoise as well as actively writing articles for such publications as Séquences, 24 Images, Cineuropa and Panorama Cinéma. Guilhem's specialty is "Cultural Management" with a focus on the history of cinema and he has participated at foreign film festivals as a professional jury member, notably Istanbul and Rotterdam 2014. In addition to his functions as Managing Director, Guilhem will continue his active involvement in every phase of the Festival programming.
The next edition of CINEMANIA Film Festival will be held from November 6th to 16th, 2014, at the Imperial Cinema. Programming and special events will be announced during the next few months.
