CINEMANIA is very pleased to present this year 85 feature films and some 30 short films, among which many international, North American, Canadian or Quebec premieres, selected from the best of French-language cinema, all with English subtitles (except for some exceptions) and accompanied by no less than 23 guests from abroad. For its 27th edition, CINEMANIA will be back in Montreal theatres from November 2 to 14 and online, accessible to the pan-Canadian public from November 2 to 21 on a dedicated broadcast platform.
During this edition, spectators will be able to discover many firsts in the presence of international guests, starting with Catherine Corsini's THE DIVIDE, presented earlier this year in official competition at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as the duo of Khalil Joreige and Joane Hadjithomas who will present the Franco-Lebanese drama MEMORY BOX. There will also be the presence of another duo of directors in the persons of Emmanuel Marre and Julie Lecoustre who will present their film ZERO FUCKS GIVEN with Adèle Exarchopoulos in the lead.
Among the directors invited to the festival, let's note the presence of Gessica Généus whose film FREDA was in the official selection Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival 2021 as well as the director Laura Wandel who will be present to introduce PLAYGROUND. One of the screenings will be followed by a round table discussion in the presence of the actor/animator Jasmin Roy and the actress Émilie Bierre.
We can also count on the presence of prestigious actors such as Anaïs Demoustier, winner of the César for best actress in 2020 for her role in ALICE AND THE MAYOR, who will accompany this year's film ANAÏS IN LOVE directed by Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet. Actor Damien Bonnard will also be in Montreal for the film THE RESTLESS by Belgian director Joachim Lafosse. Finally, in another register, the actress Jo Deseure, who just won the award for Best Actress at the International Film Festival of St-Jean-De-Luz for her role in the film MADLY IN LIFE will be in Montreal to present this film.
